JEANS MEANS GENOVA
Since the mid-16th century, a highly durable cotton fustian was produced in Genoa, mostly dyed with indigo from the East. This fabric was loaded onto ships bound for England. The city of origin was marked on the packaging, and the English terms "Jeanes", "Jeane", and "Jean" eventually evolved into "Jeans."
From the 1st to the 6th of October, Genoa will be hosting the first Jeans Week, an event that is unique in the world and where the pop garment par excellence is the true protagonist. Days dedicated to art, fashion, music, and craftsmanship in the wake of the ‘Jeans Trail’, a route through the heart of the old town, animated and filled with colour by artistic installations, exhibitions, and blue shop windows. The ‘Jeans Village’, in the Darsena area, lights up at the weekend with talks and workshops to get to know and experience the new generation of jeans.
A six-day party to discover unique locations, learn and have fun.
All this, and more, is Genova Jeans Week.
