Palazzo Gio. Battista Grimaldi

Palazzo Gio. Battista Grimaldi - decorazione ad affresco

The palace overlooks Piazza San Luca together with the Spinola family's church of the same name.

It has a sober façade: rusticated basement on the ground floor, stringcourses and aedicule windows with marble balustrades.

The current conformation derives from the fusion of medieval pre-existing structures, the ground floor arcades of which were closed during the 16th century.

Medieval remains are still visible on the back, where a 15th-century portal in black stone stands, and on the front of the building, where some Corinthian order columns can be seen on the façade.

The portal leads to the atrium and then to the monumental loggia staircase.
