Palazzo Emanuele Filiberto Di Negro

Palazzo Emanuele Filiberto Di Negro

Located on the corner between via Ponte Reale and Ripa Maris, the palace was built during the seventeenth century at the wishes of Emanuele Filiberto Di Negro as the result of the demolition and re-grouping of pre-existing medieval family properties. Enrolled in the Rolli of public lodgings as early as 1614, during the 19th century it became home to a very rich collection of paintings that included works by Reni and Rubens
Overlooking the view of the harbour, the palace has 19th-century façades with a high ashlar basement that includes the entire height of the Ripa Maris arcades, and aedicule windows with tympanum and arched gables, organised in registers by string courses.
Converted into a hotel during the 19th century, the extraordinary, open view from the rooms over the harbour attracted numerous guests, including personalities such as Theodor Mommsen and Herman Melville.
Today, the palace is home to businesses, offices and private homes.
