Forum dei Sindaci: Recovering the Classical City for Smart Living
As a continuation of the activities that are being carried out by the CAT-MED Platform on Sustainable Urban Models, on June 9 the 2nd Mediterranean Mayor’s Forum “Recovering the Classical City for Smart Living” will be held in Genoa, in the context of the International Conference within the Capitalization project URBAN EMPATHY, co-financed by Programme MED.
The meeting, whose moderator will be Mario Tozzi, will have a key note speech by Prof. Roberto Camagni: The classical city configurarion as a tool to improve quality of life.
The main aim of the CAT-MED Platform, which was born in February 2009 after the signature of the Malaga Charter by some Mediterranean Mayors, is the development of sustainable urban models which are based on the classical Mediterranean city; compact, complex and where the proximity of public services is determined by people’s ability to access them on foot.
This urban model represents a symbol of territorial, social and technological cohesion, promoting the participation of key actors and public debate on choices that involve the city.
During the meeting, the Mayors will sign the Genoa Declaration, that will claim the role of cities in the core of European 2020 strategy.
