Museo d'Arte Orientale Edoardo Chiossone

Museo d'Arte Orientale Edoardo Chiossone

Designed by the architect Labò, this museum, located in the spectacular Park of the Villetta Di Negro, is considered the most important collection of Japanese and Eastern art in Europe, after Ca' Pesaro.

The museum is named after Edoardo Chiossone, the Genoese engraver who lived between 1875 and 1898 in Tokyo, where he founded and directed the Government Printing Works at the Imperial Printers. His collection of Eastern objects, including weapons, lacquerware, porcelain, polychrome prints, clothing and bronzes can be admired here, including especially prestigious works by Harunobu, Utamaro, Hiroshige and Hokusai.
