Genoa from New Year's Eve to Epiphany 2019

New Year starts in Genoa with Christmas Lights all over the town.

Thanks to the Mediterranean climate in this period is possible to see the Christmas decoration while we walk on the beach near to the marvelous winter Sea.
Genoa is a fantastic destination because is located between mountain and sea: her landscape allows to wear Christmas hat and to eat Focaccia in front of the seaside at the same time.

The first day of 2019 at piazza De Ferrari there are lighting tunnel and coloured tree that take us from Christmas to the Epiphany, and at 4pm Carlo Felice Theater put on stage West Side Story of Bernstein: the American show that refers to Shakespeare’s Romeo&Juliet.

At Porto Antico the magic of circus continues with shows of the international festival of contemporary theater and circus “Circumnavigando Festival”. At piazza Matteotti there will be the “Epiphany Market” from 27th December to 6th January.

Until Epiphany there will be also a lot of exhibitions in Genoa’s Museums: in marvelous Via Garibaldi, Palazzi dei Rolli will be extraordinary open. At Palazzo Reale go on the first exhibitions dedicated to Anton Maria Maragliano. Palazzo della Meridiana is open for I Macchiaioli. At Palazzo Ducale there are Paganini Rockstar and From Monet to Bacon, but also Fulvio Roiter, fotografie 1948-2007.

Genoa is also deeply linked to its oldest traditions: until Epiphany there will be a lot of nativity scenes in the Genoeses churches. For example the Maragliano’s exposition of three kings processions to the Museo dei Beni Culturali dei Cappuccini. But also the 18th century nativity scene of the Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti.

January the 3rd at 8:30pm there is a special concert of Chorus Cyncus Opera Festival to the Oratorio San Filippo Neri with Mozart’s music.

Not to be missed the fun of Winter Park at Piazzale Kennedy and the lighting Ferris Wheel at Porto Antico.
