Chiesa di San Torpete

The church was named after the saint worshipped by the merchant community of Pisa, who lived in the area. Built around 1100, it became the aristocratic church of the Cattaneo family and was rebuilt in 1730.

The interior is decorated with stuccos and in the counter façade the work ''San Torpete illeso tra le fiere'' by Carlone can be admired.

Both churches are located in the small, charming, baroque-looking Piazza San Giorgio, which was the site of the city's first market in the 11th century and since then has served as the churchyard for the two neighbouring round churches.
