Ferragosto's long weekend: enjoy August in Genoa from the 15th to the 18th!
This year “Ferragosto” will be in the middle of the week, so it will make the weekend even longer: Genoa never ceases to amaze and even in August our city will offer a lot of opportunities to live the city by staying outdoors, with the sea, the shows and the typical everlasting tastes.

One of the main characters of the Genoese life is no doubt the Ancient Port, enriched by the presence of the Panoramic Wheel: this one steals the show in a place which is in itself a charming and unique site, thanks to his many breathtaking panoramic points, forecourts which look like open-air theaters and the modern structures designed by the Genoese architect Renzo Piano, in addition to the famous Aquarium. That’s where we suggest you to begin, by immerging yourself in a journey between some of the most fascinating environments of the world and discovering fantastic species. Once you get to the end of the visit, you could have a convention with the Panoramic Wheel’s ticket: so take the chance to admire the city from above, in a prime location between the sea and the typical rooftop of the Old Town.

Another symbol for the city of Genoa is the historical Lanterna, which this summer will offer a full of events' programme, such as visits and itineraries to explore the highest point of the light house, theater’s show and music for young and old: for these experiences, journey and sea will be the keywords.

For the art enthusiasts there are many opportunities to visit the various Genoa’s Museums, which have special opening hours for the occasion of Ferragosto. For the entire summer, the D’Albertis’ Castle offers special visits in the moonlight, which let the visitors discover a unique and suggestive side of Genoa; moreover you will have the opportunity to taste an appetizer while enjoying the sunset and the views of the city. Remaining at the Castle, you can’t miss the “Paesaggi Interiori” exhibition, a journey that will bring you to Turtle Island, better known as North America: it offers a representation and reflection about the meaning of being indigenous and also about the actual life conditions in the North American country.

Speaking of appetizers… the alleys and the typical “Piazza delle Erbe” can strongly attract those who'd rather enjoy a drink and some snacks being in the company, but you could get a little farther: Boccadasse and Corso Italia provide a combination of pubs, characteristic panorama and ocean breeze which mitigate the summer heat. What could be better than enjoying a summer night next to the seaside?

Genoa doesn’t stop there: from the Eastern to the Western Riviera, the city offers much more to discover. In the Eastern Riviera, you can find Nervi, where you will have the chance to enjoy the ocean scent from the characteristic little harbour to the streets winding along the promenade, without sacrificing some rest in the shade of palm trees in the Parks. Speaking of the Western Riviera, just a few steps from the splendid promenade of Pegli’s neighbourhood, you can explore Villa Durazzo Pallavicini and its historical garden-park, an excellence between the Italian and European Romantically inspired parks. To make your experience even more unforgettable, we suggest you to reach the Villa by Navebus, the ferry boat which goes from the Ancient Port to Pegli through a charming trip along the coast.
