Frugone Collections

Frugone Collections

Housed in the historic villa Grimaldi Fassio, which was completely redesigned by the architect Luigi Carlo Daneri in 1958-1960 for the residential needs of the Fassio family, then purchased by the City of Genoa in 1979, the museum preserves 284 works in a stunning natural setting, embellished with a splendid rose garden overlooking Nervi's evocative rocky coast.

The important collections of 19th-20th century art belonging to the Frugone brothers include paintings, sculptures, and drawings by Italian and foreign artists active during the Belle Époque, between the second half of the 19th century and the start of the 20th century, with names including Fattori, Signorini, Lega, Fontanesi, Mancini, Palizzi, Cremona, Conconi, Bianchi, Favretto, Milesi, Selvatico, Ciardi, Michetti, De Nittis, Boldini, Bistolfi, Segantini, Rubino, Tito, Miller, Simon, Sorolla y Bastida, and Messina.
