A unique experience in direct contact with Vincent van Gogh's artwork, "Landscape with Sheaves of Wheat and Rising Moon": this is the exhibition "Five Minutes with van Gogh" at Palazzo Ducale.
In the Doge's Chapel, from May 12th to September 10th, 2023, you can rediscover the contemplation and expressive power of this masterpiece during the following hours: Mondays from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Fridays from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
In the summer of 2020, after the challenging months of lockdown and social distancing due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Palazzo Ducale, in collaboration with Arthemisia and the Marmottan Monet Museum in Paris, achieved a small wonder: an exhibition featuring one of Monet's Water Lilies, as well as one of the most beautiful and iconic works in art history.
In 2023, the unique experience of encountering a masterpiece is renewed, offering an exhibition produced by Palazzo Ducale Foundation for Culture, in collaboration with Arthemisia and the Kröller-Müller Museum, Otterlo, The Netherlands. At the heart of this immersive experience is Vincent van Gogh's painting, "Landscape with Sheaves of Wheat and Rising Moon." The painting is an oil on canvas from 1889 and is one of the last paintings created by the artist before his death. During a period of mental instability, Van Gogh created this work during his voluntary stay at the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum, reproducing the panorama he saw from his cell window: a wheat field, painted at every change of season, at different times of the day, which would soon become the dominant subject of works from this period and almost an obsession for him.
The cost for the exhibition is 8 euros for a full ticket, 7 euros for a reduced ticket, and 4 euros for children aged 6 to 12. You can purchase a combined ticket with the Man Ray exhibition, "Works 1912-1975," for 15 euros for a full ticket and 14 euros for a reduced ticket. Reservation and pre-sale fees: individuals €1.50 per person; school groups €1.00 per person.
