As per tradition from Tuesday 8 December, for the feast of the Immaculate Conception, the Christmas tree will be lit in Piazza De Ferrari. This year also the Christmas tree was donated to our city by the Regional Natural Park of Aveto.
The tree comes from a forest managed responsibly by the Aveto Park and its felling comes from the improvement and requalification of the woods of a protected area. In fact, the renaturation works of the Park's forests involve selective felling of many conifers of artificial planting, including spruce and white firs, for a gradual replacement with natural broad-leaved trees such as beech and maple. In addition to its symbolic and promotional value, the initiative has important ecological and educational aspects because, at the end of the Christmas holidays, it will be transformed into wood chips, stored and used in Genoese flowerbeds and gardens to prevent the growth of weeds.
