From Saturday August 31st to Saturday September 21st 2019 there is the 28th edition of the Festival Musicale del Mediterraneo, an event which let Genoa becoming a place to discover and promote rare music with concerts, collateral events and workshops.
The Festival will take place in the most important landmarks of the city, such as : Salone del Maggior Consiglio di Palazzo Ducale, Chiostro del Museo Diocesano, Parco dell’Acquasola, Palazzo Tursi, Palazzo Bianco, Museo del Castello D’Albertis, Teatro Duse and Celso, while the parade will involve the whole centre up to the suburbs.
Festival Musicale del Mediterraneo, organized by Associazione Echo Art since 1992, has the puspose to link the energy of the landmarks to the national and European premieres.
Lately the “Festival Musicale del Mediterraneo” has been focusing on different geographical areas for a three-year period required by Ban Performing Art of the San Paolo’s Company: EurAfrica in 2018, Eurasia this year (2019) and EurAmericas in 2020, by focusing on stereotypes and differences, and creating exchange and creation places. The twenty 2019 shows will be announced during the press conference at the Feltrinelli in via Ceccardi 18-24r in Genoa on August 30th at 11 am in front of the organizers and artists, and then there will be a refreshment.
The workshops serie named "WOMUS" --World Music School, theory and practice of the People’s Musics— is noteworthy, and includes:
- Sunday, September 8th from 9:30am to 5:30 pm at Parco Museo Castello D'Albertis the Sainkho Namtcylak's laboratory (Tuva’s Republic) about techniques of shaman female voice;
- Sunday, September 15th from 9:30am to 5:30 pm at Museo Castello D'Albertis Tran Quang Hai ‘s workshop (Vietnam) about Mongolian overtone singing.
Moreover there will be different seminars about music and the Armenian instrument “duduk” (September 14th) and the Indian theatre-dance Kathakali (being developed).
Besides there will be many meetings at Celso (Centro Studi Arti Orientali) with insights, from September 10th at 6.00 pm with the Chakam Iranian ladies’ duo and the Silk Road Music.
