Itineraries

Genoa, a uniquely multicultural city, is famous for its hidden treasures, which can be found in the most unexpected corners, many of them little known.

Despite retaining the soul of a compact medieval city, it is actually much bigger than it appears at first sight, and it is as easy as it is fascinating to lose oneself in its caruggi e piazzette (alleyways and small squares).

All of which is why visitors can experience Genoa guided by a range of itineraries dedicated to all kinds of different requirements, designed to help them choose different points of view and discover Genoa’s monuments and breathtaking landscapes.

From itineraries exploring the marvels of the historic centre, taking in Piazza Banchi, the cathedral, Palazzo San Giorgio and Porta dei Vacca, Porta Soprana with the house of Christopher Columbus’ and the Flemish triptych in the Church of San Donato, to one focusing on places connected with the life of Niccolò Paganini and another specifically for cruise passengers, ensuring that they don’t miss the main monuments and streets despite having just a few hours at their disposal: Piazza De Ferrari, Palazzo Ducale and the Teatro Carlo Felice, to name just a few.

And then there are itineraries with the accent on art, as well as taste tours which allow visitors to savour Genoa’s traditional culinary products or simply let themselves be transported by the atmosphere of the Mercato del Carmine, Genoa’s local produce market. Many of these itineraries don’t neglect the city’s vertical character, either: public lifts and funicular railways take visitors up to the best observation points for looking out over Genoa’s ancient roofs and naturally over the sea, the true star of Liguria’s capital, too.
